Small Pond for Frogs

This is a photo of the pond installed in May 2010. It fills a hole left by a tree stump and improves the view from the lounge room window. We hope some frogs will find it although the spray may deter them. Meanwhile, birds are enjoying the spray. The native violets are spreading and will soon cover the area and the edge of the pond.

  2. Wow Fiona I am so impressed (and jealous). About 2 years ago we built a pond but the birds kept eating the fish .. the toads had a field day (despite the fence) .. the mozzies went mad .. and no frogs came! :( I gave up and filled it in. BUT seeing your pictures ... ????

  3. I'm hoping the violets will cover the edges of the pond so it looks more natural. This one might get filled in yet; depends on the running water keeping mozzies at bay. They are a tad on the large size this year and plenty of them due to some minor flooding.

  4. I love the water feature! How did u get the 'power' to run it? An extension cord? or solar power? it looks great!

  5. It runs from a power cord. Unfortunately, it requires maintenance everyday because the spray head can get blocked but it's worth it.

  6. The plants have grown and the frogs have arrived. I have seen two in the garden. Amazing!
